Volleyball Recap: Cor Jesu Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Mater Dei

Cor Jesu Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Mater Dei. The Chargers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Chargers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Lauren Ortwerth paced Cor Jesu Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Ortwerth got some help from Avery Finney and her 11 assists. Finney was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Mater Dei to victory were Abby Kuhl and Ava Lampe. Kuhl had seven digs and three aces, while Lampe had nine digs and three assists. That's the most digs Kuhl has posted over her last eight matches.
