Basketball Game Preview: Graham Red Devils vs. Chatham Central Bears

Graham is 1-7 against Chatham Central since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Graham Red Devils will challenge the Chatham Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Graham is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 77-62 to Cummings. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (56), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Chatham Central waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Mustangs, posting a 78-38 win. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Mustangs are ranked 568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Graham better keep an eye on Reid Albright. He was instrumental in Chatham Central's win, going 9 for 15 en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Albright's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brennen Oldham was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points along with six steals and five boards.

Chatham Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Graham, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Graham came up short against Chatham Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 77-64. Can Graham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
