Basketball Game Preview: Fashion Industries Falcons vs. New Dorp Central Cougars

The Fashion Industries Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the New Dorp Central Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Fashion Industries' offense hasn't had much luck over their past five games, but Monday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Fashion Industries turned things around against Tottenville on Friday. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 12-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Pirates are ranked 95th).

Meanwhile, New Dorp came tearing into Friday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Health Profession, posting a 74-20 win. The Central Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

New Dorp pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.2 points. As for Fashion Industries, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Fashion Industries was taken down by New Dorp 92-17 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Fashion Industries avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
