Basketball Recap: Standing Bear Grizzlies vs. Norris Titans
After flying high against Nebraska City last Wednesday, Standing Bear came back down to earth. The Standing Bear Grizzlies took a blow against the Norris Titans on Thursday, falling 83-41. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.
Despite the defeat, Standing Bear saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carlos Risueno went 5-for-9 on his way to 13 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Hart, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.
Norris' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Greenfield, who posted eight points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Greenfield has posted since back in December of 2024. Macoy Folkerts was another key player, shooting 56% from the field en route to 16 points.
Standing Bear dropped their record down to 6-16 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Norris, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-2.
Standing Bear does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norris, they have already played their next match, a 76-33 win against Pius X on the 28th.
