Basketball Recap: Teague Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Teague took on Kerens on Saturday. The Teague Lions fell 63-52 to the Kerens Bobcats. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 57-53 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Teague still got an impressive performance from Brayden Leija, who went 8 of 19 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Leija has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Clifford Coleman, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Teague smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Teague's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Kerens, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Teague will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Kerens, they will challenge Frost at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
