Baseball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Chargers vs. Holland Christian Maroons

The Covenant Christian Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Holland Christian Maroons at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Covenant Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Holland Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Covenant Christian came out on top against Western Michigan Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Chargers walked away with a 9-5 win over the Warriors. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Jeremy Rutgers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kuiper, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Holland Christian lost 10-2 to South Christian on Tuesday. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Covenant Christian's record is now 5-10. As for Holland Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Covenant Christian couldn't quite get it done against Holland Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2016 as they fell 8-3. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
