Preview: Clarkson/Leigh Patriots vs. West Point-Beemer Cadets

After two games on the road, Clarkson/Leigh is heading back home. They will take on the West Point-Beemer Cadets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Clarkson/Leigh is ranked 201st, while West Point-Beemer is ranked 184th).

Clarkson/Leigh scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past David City with points to spare, taking the game 54-39.

Chloe Hanel was her usual excellent self, scoring 32 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Clarkson/Leigh's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Settje, who scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, West Point-Beemer came up short against Howells-Dodge on Tuesday and fell 50-42. West Point-Beemer has not had much luck with Howells-Dodge recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

The losing side was boosted by Campbell Snodgrass, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Addison Toelle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists and five steals.

Clarkson/Leigh's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for West Point-Beemer, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Clarkson/Leigh have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for West Point-Beemer, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 threes per game. Given Clarkson/Leigh's sizeable advantage in that area, West Point-Beemer will need to find a way to close that gap.

Clarkson/Leigh strolled past West Point-Beemer in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 52-37. Does Clarkson/Leigh have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Point-Beemer turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
