League recap: Velasquez's hot bat leads Bay View

Milwaukee City - Gold league recap: 5/29/12

Orlando Velasquez was on fire this week, as he led Milwaukee City - Gold with a .462 average with six RBIs. Meanwhile, Bay View put together a 2-2 week.

King beat Riverside University this week, 6-5, in a matchup of the league's top two teams on Wednesday. Riverside University sits in first place in the league at 15-2 (16-7 overall).

Bay View scored 54 runs this week to lead the league, but Hamilton is tops in runs scored this year, with 283.

Madison University/Marshall/Milwaukee School of Languages/Northwest stole 26 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 121 steals on the year. Manager Cory McEwen is giving his players opportunities to steal, and Isaiah Lucas has racked up a team-high 27 stolen bases for the Knights.

Reagan Prep/Conservatory of Lifelong Learning's Cody Johnson finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. He is fifteenth in the league with 19 hits this year, and has a .373 batting average.



Tj Burtnett drove in four runners as King defeated Riverside University 6-5 on Wednesday.
