Basketball Recap: Lane Tech Champions vs. Kenwood Broncos
Lane Tech lost against Kenwood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lane Tech Champions fell just short of the Kenwood Broncos by a score of 65-62. While losing is never fun, the Champions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Broncos are ranked first).

Despite the loss, Lane Tech still got an impressive performance from Dalton Scantlebury, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. Scantlebury is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Szafoni, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lane Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
