Basketball Recap: First Coast Beats San Jose Prep for Their Third Straight Win

First Coast had won two straight games and Amari Walton did his part to make it three on Monday. The First Coast Buccaneers walked away with a 74-63 victory over the San Jose Prep Storm thanks in part to Walton, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 14 boards, and ten blocks. Walton is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

Dakari Johnson was another key player, putting up six points along with ten boards and five blocks. First Coast is undefeated when Johnson posts ten or more boards, but 0-4 otherwise.

Despite the loss, San Jose Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Damarri Young-Grant went 11 of 20 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young-Grant has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samual Koko, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

First Coast's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for San Jose Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

First Coast will face off against Yulee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Yulee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season. As for San Jose Prep, they will take on Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. San Jose Prep also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 61.2 points per game.
