Basketball Game Preview: Wesson Cobras vs. South Pike Eagles

Wesson hasn't had much luck against South Pike recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wesson Cobras will be playing at home against the South Pike Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wesson took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They snuck past Port Gibson with a 42-37 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Pike). They put the hurt on Port Gibson with a sharp 60-34 victory on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

South Pike has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Wesson, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-10.

Things could have been worse for Wesson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-22 loss to South Pike when the teams last played back in February of 2024.
