League recap: Hazel Green stuns Bob Jones in upset

6A Region 8 recap Sept. 26, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hazel Green, who took down 37th ranked Bob Jones, 42-14.

Austin extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 8 this week by beating Sparkman, 42-23. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Decatur's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jackson Fite threw for 23 yards and Tae Hayes had 13 yards receiving. On the ground Fite chipped in 33 yards. Jordan Tibbs helped Decatur's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.

The Trojans' Corey Collier and Christopher J. Ungacta have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Collier has thrown for 308 yards this season, while Ungacta has nine catches for 150 yards. Josh Matthews from the Red Raiders leads the league in rushing with 351 yards.

James Clemens moved up to 340 from 392 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Jets were able to make the jump by beating the Jets 31-18.
