Softball Game Preview: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Argyle Eagles

The Grapevine Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Argyle Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grapevine will be strutting in after a victory while Argyle will be coming in after a loss.

Grapevine took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Colleyville Heritage, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Tiana Coburn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Grapevine saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graelyn Lindbloom, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Braylee Smart, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Argyle didn't have quite enough to beat Richland on Friday and fell 4-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Argyle's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Grapevine, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Grapevine couldn't quite get it done against Argyle in their previous matchup on March 6th as they fell 8-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
