Basketball Preview: Madill Wildcats vs. Plainview Indians
The Madill Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Plainview Indians at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Madill is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Indians in Oklahoma (the Wildcats are ranked 18th, while the Indians are ranked 200th).
Madill unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Riverside Indian by a score of 48-45.
Despite the defeat, Madill had strong showings from Ethan Wilkerson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks, and Brylan James, who scored 16 points along with five assists. That was a full 44.4% of Madill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jd Runyan, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plainview's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 80-57 defeat at the hands of Byng. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plainview in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.
Madill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-2. As for Plainview, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-11.
Madill strolled past the Indians when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 49-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madill since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
