Baseball Preview: Stark County Rebels vs. Wethersfield/Annawan Titans

Stark County has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Wethersfield/Annawan Titans at 4:00 p.m. in Monday's first game. Stark County is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Stark County proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Monmouth United 5-3.

Connor Daum was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Daum has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Daum was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Tim Giesenhagen looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Stark County let Charley Holmstrom and Blair Daum loose on the outfield.
