Softball Recap: Clovis East's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Clovis East hadn't done well against Central East recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Timberwolves walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Bengals. This was a revenge game for the Timberwolves: when they faced off against the Bengals back in April, they had to take a 5-4 defeat.

Chloe Solis tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Savannah Villegas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Eliana Massicci was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win (which was Clovis East's third in a row) raised their record to 16-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central East, their loss dropped their record down to 21-3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Clovis East is set to square off against their familiar foe Buchanan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Timberwolves 3.4, the Bears 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Central East will face off against rival Clovis at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Bengals' favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while the Cougars have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
