Recap: Yoakum Bulldogs vs. Hallettsville Brahmas
It was a good run, but the Yoakum Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their tough 53-28 loss to Hallettsville might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Yoakum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 733rd, while Hallettsville is ranked 254th).
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayana Phillips, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Phillips has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.
Yoakum's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Hallettsville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 28-5 record this season.
Yoakum will be playing at home against Tidehaven at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hallettsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Columbus at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
