Antelope Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 47-12 defeat at the hands of the St. Genevieve Valiants on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Antelope Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Maddox Caldwell, who rushed for 105 yards on only 13 carries, and Deion Bogan, who rushed for 39 yards and one TD.
Michael Wynn had an outrageously good game for St. Genevieve as he threw for 462 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Those 462 passing yards gave Wynn a new career-high. 113 of Wynn's passing yards were hauled in by Romario Rivas, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antelope Valley will host West Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for St. Genevieve, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on South Hills at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
