Softball Game Preview: Gordo Green Wave vs. Sulligent Blue Devils

The Gordo Green Wave will take on the Sulligent Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Sulligent took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Gordo, who comes in off a win.

Gordo barely beat Demopolis the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Green Wave never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Friday.

Abigail Billings made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Marlee Blakney was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Sulligent's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Hackleburg, falling 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since March 8th.

Aubree Flynn was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Sulligent's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Gordo, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
