Basketball Game Preview: King George Foxes vs. James Monroe Yellow Jackets

The King George Foxes are taking a road trip to square off against the James Monroe Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. King George has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

King George took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 46-34 victory over Spotsylvania.

Meanwhile, James Monroe put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Courtland, posting a 95-18 win. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Cougars are ranked 199th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

James Monroe pushed their record up to 19-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.7 points over those games. As for King George, their win bumped their record up to 3-13.

King George took a serious blow against James Monroe when the teams last played back in January, falling 81-20. Can King George avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
