Basketball Recap: Baptist Hill Takes a Loss

Baptist Hill extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-9. They were dealt a 57-18 loss at the hands of the West Ashley Wildcats. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

As for West Ashley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

West Ashley was led to victory by Destiny Ladson and Shaniah Townsend. Ladson went 8-for-18 to rack up 18 points and six steals, while Townsend shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points and eight steals. Ladson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Emma Elliott, who posted eight points along with 11 steals and five assists.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Baptist Hill will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Scott's Branch at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for West Ashley, they will take on James Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Wildcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
