Basketball Game Preview: Magna Vista Warriors vs. Mecklenburg County Phoenix

The Magna Vista Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Mecklenburg County Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Magna Vista has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Mecklenburg County will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Monday, Magna Vista ended up a good deal behind Halifax County and lost 60-41. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Comets are ranked 138th).

Meanwhile, Mecklenburg County posted their biggest win since January 24th on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 61-41 margin over Bassett.

Mecklenburg County's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Magna Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Magna Vista couldn't quite finish off Mecklenburg County when the teams last played last Tuesday and fell 56-53. Can Magna Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
