Baseball Game Preview: North Pocono Trojans vs. West Scranton Invaders

North Pocono is 9-1 against West Scranton since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Invaders at 4:30 p.m. North Pocono is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

While North Pocono's victory against Wallenpaupack Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Buckhorns 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 26, 2024.

North Pocono got a great performance from Nick Reese as he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Jake Reese was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Connor Ruddy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, West Scranton fell victim to Abington Heights and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 6-0 to the Comets. The loss continues a trend for the Invaders in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost nine in a row.

West Scranton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Lesh, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

North Pocono pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for West Scranton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

North Pocono couldn't quite get it done against West Scranton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
