Baseball Recap: Bishop Guilfoyle Wins Going Away Against Purchase Line

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bishop Guilfoyle walked away with it. They blew past the Purchase Line Red Dragons 9-1 on Thursday. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Marauders this season.

Michael Cacciotti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. Bishop Guilfoyle is 4-1 when Cacciotti allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Hamilton Gates was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lex Dixon, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Bishop Guilfoyle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Bishop Guilfoyle's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Purchase Line, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.

As of now, neither Bishop Guilfoyle nor the Red Dragons have any future games scheduled.
