The Law Lawmen will challenge the Cheshire Rams at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Law 2.4, Cheshire 0.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Law is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: North Branford, who was ranked 13th at the time (Law was ranked 25th). The Lawmen's pitchers stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 1-0 shutout on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lawmen have posted since April 21, 2025.
Meanwhile, Cheshire came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 10-2 victory. Considering the Rams have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenica Matos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks.
On the hitting side, Cheshire got a massive performance out of Jordan McCue, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Fleming, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cheshire kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Cheshire's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Law, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Law suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Cheshire in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Lawmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
