Basketball Recap: Cozad Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

Cozad put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Holdrege Dusters as they made off with a 73-51 victory. This was payback for the Haymakers, who suffered an 82-73 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cozad's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kellen Shoemaker, who went 8-for-14 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Shoemaker now owns an excellent 46% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Chayden Hoffmaster, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Cozad smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Holdrege's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Robert Remmenga, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points, and Lucas Johnson, who posted seven points in addition to 13 rebounds and five assists. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Barrett Schroeder was another key player, putting up six points.

Cozad's record now sits at 4-0. As for Holdrege, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Cozad has already played their next matchup, a 74-21 victory against Cambridge on the 18th. As for Holdrege, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-44 defeat against Sandy Creek on the 16th.
