Preview: Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers vs. Mt. Zion Eagles
The Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers will take on the Mt. Zion Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Atlanta Classical Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by Christian Heritage 91-43. While losing is never fun, Atlanta Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Christian Heritage is ranked 57th).
Despite the loss, Atlanta Classical Academy got a solid performance out of Owen McGowan, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zachary Bynum, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-38, which was the final score in Mt. Zion's tilt against Greenforest on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mt. Zion has scored all season.
Atlanta Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Mt. Zion, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.
Atlanta Classical Academy strolled past Mt. Zion when the teams last played back in January by a score of 76-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atlanta Classical Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
