The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Everett Alvarez has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Carmel will arrive with five straight victories.
Everett Alvarez blew King City out of the water the last time the pair played, but last Thursday King City got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 2, 2025.
Amaris Perez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamyla Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Carmel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out King City 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Padres have posted since March 12th.
Olivia Tringali spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Annabella Schroeder was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stella Becker, who went 3-for-5 with one run.
Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Everett Alvarez's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Everett Alvarez beat Carmel 4-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Padres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
