Basketball Recap: Malta Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Malta had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They blew past the Glasgow Scotties, posting a 70-29 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Scotties are ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Malta's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points over those games. As for Glasgow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Malta will host Poplar on Friday. Malta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Poplar likes a good challenge. As for Glasgow, they will be playing at home against Fairview on Thursday. Fairview will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Glasgow surely won't give up without a fight.
