Ardrey Kell and Cuthbertson are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Ardrey Kell Knights will head out to square off against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cuthbertson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ardrey Kell, who comes in off a win.
Ardrey Kell gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Myers Park 12-2. Considering the Knights have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Volturno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Volturno was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Reagan Martin was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tessa Sanchez-Barrios, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Ardrey Kell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 19 runs the game before, Cuthbertson was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. The game marked the first time this season in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.
Cuthbertson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Murray, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Ardrey Kell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.3 runs. Cuthbertson's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ardrey Kell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cuthbertson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ardrey Kell couldn't quite get it done against Cuthbertson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 16-11. Can Ardrey Kell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
