Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Skates Past Hurricane with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pleasant Grove's strategy against Hurricane on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Vikings blew the Tigers out of the water with a 70-20 final score. Fans of the Vikings have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Pleasant Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sutton Villa out in front who dropped a double-double with 15 rebounds and 12 blocks. Villa is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Sikander, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Pleasant Grove was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hurricane only posted three.

The victory (which was Pleasant Grove's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 71.3 points this season. As for Hurricane, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pleasant Grove will challenge West Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hurricane, they will take on Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
