Baseball Recap: Braddock Takes a Loss

Braddock has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.96 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Southridge Spartans, falling 12-3. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Tuesday.

Braddock got a good showing from Alvaro Perez, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Perez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andrew Sarmiento made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Braddock's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 18-7-1. As for Southridge, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

As of now, neither Braddock nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
