Baseball Recap: Bert Corona Charter Takes a Loss

Bert Corona Charter extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 15-2 to the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pioneers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Sun Valley Magnet, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

For Sun Valley Magnet's part, the team relied heavily on Thomas Noguera, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Noguera has become a key player for the Pioneers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Kevin Alonso was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
