Game recap: Amarillo can't hold onto lead against Stephenville

After two lead changes, Stephenville (Texas) took the lead for good when Tyler Jones threw a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter and held on to defeat Amarillo (Texas) 35-14 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Jones in the second quarter, the Yellowjackets/Honeybees led 21-14 at the half.

Stephenville expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Jones.

Jones was one of the big reasons the Yellowjackets/Honeybees got the victory, as he threw four touchdowns.

Jones stood out for Stephenville in the win. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.



The loss comes after Amarillo defeated Frenship 21-12 last week. With the win SHS extended its winning streak to four games.

In a 3A Region I District 7 game next week Stephenville (4-1) takes on Glen Rose, and Amarillo (3-2) will go up against Palo Duro in a 4A Region I District 3 game.
