1A Region 2 recap October 22, 2013

McAdams lost to Broad Street 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Shaw and St. Aloysius played the most contested game in 1A Region 2 this week, with Shaw eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory. Andre Pruitt threw for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 54 yards in the win.

Eddie Gibson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Brooks beat Montgomery County. He grabbed 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.

Devonte Mcpherson threw for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 24-55 with 4 interceptions.

Carnez Gant was a force in the backfield as Kennedy bested St. Joseph.

Gant was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 294 yards as the Hornets fell to the Hornets. Xavier Roberts also contributed to the rushing game with 98 yards on the ground.

St. Joseph's Mcpherson and Bailey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Mcpherson has thrown for 1,738 yards this season, while Bailey has 34 catches for 666 yards. Kennedy's Gant leads the league in rushing yards with 816.

An important game coming up in 1A Region 2 this week will be when Durant takes on the Jaguars. At the moment, the Tigers are in sixth, while Broad Street is in second.

Sheldon Hodge's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on john baker's team. Gant threw for 35 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 294 yards during the win.
