Baseball Recap: North Royalton Has No Trouble Against Solon

North Royalton owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They blew past the Solon Comets 9-0. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bears yet this season.

Not much got past Antonio Escano, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Solon off the board. Escano also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Royalton is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jackson Cavanaugh was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Grady Baugh was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got North Royalton back to even at 8-8. As for Solon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Solon will challenge University School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Preppers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. North Royalton will be paying especially close attention to Solon's game: after Solon faces off against University School, they'll take on North Royalton again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
