Basketball Game Preview: Avant Garde Academy Sharks vs. Sports Leadership & Management Cobras

The Avant Garde Academy Sharks will take on the Sports Leadership & Management Cobras in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Avant Garde Academy has three straight victories, Sports Leadership & Management has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Avant Garde Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Scheck Hillel Community School with a sharp 74-52 win on Monday. The Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Avant Garde Academy found their leader in freshman Landon Guzman, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Guzman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikko Andino, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Avant Garde Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management took a blow against Atlantic Christian on December 2nd, falling 85-13.

Avant Garde Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything came up roses for Avant Garde Academy against Sports Leadership & Management in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 56-6 win.
