Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Homestead's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Homestead never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Santa Teresa Saints, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 7th.

Andrew Sun was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Homestead hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.

Homestead has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Teresa, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Homestead will head out to take on Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 3.7, the Spartans 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Santa Teresa, they will host Milpitas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
