Basketball Recap: Granite City Takes a Loss

Granite City was the 62-50 winner over Jersey when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite City Warriors took a 43-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jersey Panthers on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Granite City lost, don't look at Evan Brewer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Aiden Henderson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Jersey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from John Paul Vogel, who went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Vogel is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Brunaugh, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Jersey, their record now sits at 7-15.

Granite City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 43-35 loss against Jacksonville on the 24th. As for Jersey, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-50 defeat against Cahokia on the 24th.
