Preview: Knowledge Academies vs. Smyrna Bulldogs
After two games on the road, Knowledge Academies is heading back home. They will take on the Smyrna Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The pair are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
Knowledge Academies pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Jo Byrns by a score of 69-66.
Meanwhile, Smyrna's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Cookeville by a score of 59-57. While losing is never fun, Smyrna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Cookeville is ranked 11th).
Despite their loss, Smyrna saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tyreque Mccarver, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ze'keice Mccarver, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Knowledge Academies' defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Smyrna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Knowledge Academies took a serious blow against Smyrna when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 79-37. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Knowledge Academies was down 40-13.
