Gainesville fell victim to Vernon and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a 7-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Leopards haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Gainesville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Vernon, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
