Soccer Game Preview: Freedom vs. Lake Nona

Freedom is 1-9 against Lake Nona since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Freedom Patriots will be playing at home against the Lake Nona Lions at 6:00 p.m. Freedom is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Freedom took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Tohopekaliga. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Tigers are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lara Skaf and Mylee Smith scored all three of Freedom's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Lake Nona had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Cypress Creek by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

Freedom's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Lake Nona, the win got them back to even at 7-7-3.
