Basketball Recap: Alief Taylor's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Alief Taylor was feeling good fresh off their 65-42 takedown of Alief Elsik last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Alief Taylor Lions fell just short of the Fulshear Chargers by a score of 70-67 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (65), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Alief Taylor still got an impressive performance from Nataliyah Gray, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 58.2% of Alief Taylor's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samyra Williams, who put up eight points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Alief Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 31 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Alief Taylor's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-5. As for Fulshear, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Alief Hastings the next time they take the court. Fulshear will head out to face Alief Hastings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Alief Taylor will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
