Baseball Recap: Whitewright Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Wednesday. Whitewright fell just short of Trenton by a score of 6-5. Whitewright was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Trenton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Clayton Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Whitewright's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kason Dodson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Whitewright has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. The win made it two in a row for Trenton and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
