Walnut hasn't had much luck against Myrtle recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will head out to square off against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Walnut beats Myrtle with 11 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Wildcats beat Senatobia on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on four straight.
Aubree Carter spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taylor Garner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Allie Jackson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, while Myrtle put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Mantachie. The Hawks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 10-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Brooklyn Streich was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Streich was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Ally Murphy was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Khole Bennett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Myrtle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
Walnut's record now sits at 10-11. As for Myrtle, their record is now 18-8.
Walnut might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Myrtle when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
