Basketball Recap: Cameron Lyons' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Atholton over Wilde Lake

Atholton lost against Wilde Lake back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Atholton Raiders fell to the Wilde Lake Wildecats 59-55. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Lyons, who posted 18 points. Lyons has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Pope Jr, who had eight points along with four steals and four blocks.

Wilde Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Wingfield out in front who put up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Dre Hoskins was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.

Atholton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Wilde Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Atholton has already played their next contest, a 70-67 loss against Howard on the 20th. As for Wilde Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 96-68 win against Hammond on the 19th.
