Basketball Recap: Anna Snags 15th Victory in Last 19 Games

Anna won the last time they faced Sherman and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Anna Coyotes came out on top against the Sherman Bearcats by a score of 61-54. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Bearcats are ranked 939th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Anna's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayonna Cooper, who went 6 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Cooper is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Reagan Wright was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six steals and five assists.

Anna is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. As for Sherman, they dropped their record down to 4-23 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anna will square off against Walnut Grove at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Anna is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. As for Sherman, they will face off against Denison at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
