Football Game Preview: St. Thomas More Chancellors vs. Hun Raiders

The St. Thomas More Chancellors will venture away from home to challenge the Hun Raiders on Saturday. Neither St. Thomas More nor Hun posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

St. Thomas More came into this matchup off a tough 60-point loss back in October. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of The St. James Performance Academy by a score of 14-12 two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, the Chancellors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 78th in Connecticut, while the Strivers are ranked second in Virginia).

Meanwhile, Hun entered their matchup against IMG Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The game between the Raiders and the Ascenders didn't end well, with the Raiders falling 31-13.

Although Hun took the loss, they still got scores from Warren Hernandez and Nick Diamond.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hernandez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Hun's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for St. Thomas More, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Thomas More might still be hurting after the 38-18 defeat they got from Hun when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Chancellors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
