Basketball Recap: Mt. Olive Takes a Loss

Mt. Olive lost against Lutheran back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mt. Olive Wildcats were beaten by the Lutheran Crusaders 80-42. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Mt. Olive still got an impressive performance from David Schoen, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points and five boards. Schoen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Briley Viviano, who posted eight points.

Mt. Olive's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Lutheran, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Olive will head out to take on North Greene at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lutheran, they will square off against South County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
