Softball Recap: Lonoke Falls Short of Southside in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lonoke can now relate to. They fell just short of the Southside Southerners by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Jackrabbits were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Southerners earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Kendra Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Shaniya Jackson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Holt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Lonoke's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8. As for Southside, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

As of now, neither Lonoke nor the Southerners have any future games scheduled.
